Just doing something to celebrate the Badger's 65th Birthday!
This past weekend I joined in on the festivities to celebrate Thomas Mabry's (aka the Badger) 65th Birthday! I left work early on Friday to help secure adequate camping space along Steels Creek!
After setting up camp, the Badger, Kitty, Jill, Rob, and myself decided to hike up to Steels Creek Falls.

This was shortly before she almost died!
After our hike, we spent the rest of the evening having fun around the campfire! A beautiful full moon added to the amazing ambiance of the evening!

The next morning, after a few more of our friends arrived, we shuttled over to start the main adventure of the weekend. Our plan was to bushwhack down to Gingercake Creek near the base of Gingercake Falls, and then follow Gingercake downstream to Steels Creek which would eventually take us back to our campsite.
Here is the GPS track from our Adventure
We started at the top left and ended at our campsite at the bottom right
Here are some of the photos from our Gingercake / Steels Creek Adventure:

After adventure we returned to our campsite where the Badger Birthday Festivities continued throughout the night and well into Sunday Morning!

Very Early Sunday Morning
I skipped the Sunday festivities to make it home to spend some time with Amy before her trip to Vermont! However, I did make a quick stop to catch the sunrise from the Brown Mountain Overlook.

I had a great time this weekend with this amazing group of friends both old (Badger) and new!
