Group Photo along Cave (or is it Cane?) Creek
L to R: Me, Jen, Scott, Seda, David, Brandi, Andy
For years Andy has eyed a spot along Cave Creek near Old Fort, NC that he has been wanting to check out. In order to avoid private property, this would require an all day bushwhack/creekwalk adventure.
Also joining us would be Jennifer Loow, Brandi Elliott, David Wester, Scott Burns, and Scott's cousin Seda.
I give Andy full credit (and blame) for scoping out the route and finding these waterfall. I also give him full naming rights! So even though I am not a fan of mushrooms, I am going with the Andy's name of Chanterelle Falls for the highlight of the day.
Jen Presents Chanterelle Falls
The highlight for me was spending it with this fine group of explorers. I've known David and Brandi for years on Facebook, but it was great to finally meet them in person. It was also a pleasure meeting and hiking with Scott's cousin Seda for the first time!
Warning: This route is 100% off trail, but it is also 100% public land, so here is the track.
