Washington Sunset

It has been a few years since we have been to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, so we decided to extend the Memorial Day weekend for an little Beach Vacation!

I took the day off from work on Friday to join Amy on a little business trip which would take us more than half way there.  Since she had some work stops, it gave me a little time at each location to explore.

First stop, Burlington, NC.  Located right off of I-85, I have driven by the exit hundreds of times, but I have never actually seen the town.  I had about an two hours to walk around downtown and some of the older neighborhoods.

I love checking out the architecture of some of the older homes!  This one was really unique looking!

Amy's next work stop was Wake Forest, NC.   I used my free time here to check out the Falls of the Neuse at the Falls Lake Dam.

Our final stop for the day would be Washington, NC which turned out to be a very pleasant surprise!

Our Accommodations in Washington, NC

The cottage was nothing fancy, but very comfortable and less expensive than a typical hotel room.  Plus the location was perfect.  It was located right next to a cute little coffee shop called the Coffee Caboose which serves up some really good Coffee!

We were also located about 100 yards from the east end of the town's boardwalk.

A pleasant walk of about a half mile on the boardwalk leads to the downtown waterfront area which was really nice!

The Boardwalk also turned out to be the perfect spot to photograph the sunset!

Later that evening I went out to the boardwalk again for some night photography.

I got up early the next morning for a sunrise but it was a bit foggy for the sun to make an appearance.  It was still a very pleasant morning!

The fog had mostly cleared by the time Amy got up.  We had another stroll along the boardwalk and found a nice breakfast spot downtown.
