Pikes Peak and the Garden of the Gods

For Sunday our first plan for the day was to drive up to the summit of Pikes Peak!
Since they don't open the gates until 7:30am, we decided to have breakfast first. For those like us that like to avoid crowds, the town of Green Mountain Falls turned our to be a great spot for Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner! The Pantry was by far our favorite breakfast spot during our stay in Colorado!

After breakfast, we made our way over to Pikes Peak! Even with the early start, there was still about a 15 minute wait to pay the $30.00 entrance fee ($15.00 per person)! Fortunately the views from Pike's Peak were worth the wait and the money!

I had originally planned to do some High Elevation hiking, but my body was just not used to being that High (14,000 feet)! So for my main hike of the day, we descended back down to about 9,000 feet for some hiking around the Catamount Reservoirs!
Amy was also feeling the effects of the altitude and decided to hang back with her Kindle! Amy also loves reading, so even when she is feeling 100%, she sometimes still prefers reading over hiking!

After Dinner, Amy and I decided to head over to The Garden of the Gods. This places is very touristy as well, but it is also absolutely incredible! In fact, I would end up coming back to the Garden of the Gods three more times during our short visit to Colorado! Here are some of the photos from our first visit to the Garden of the Gods!
