The Professor was in town for the Kunkle Chosen Party Celebration weekend, so prior to the main event, we decided to hit a few waterfalls in the Green River Gamelands of North Carolina.

We started with a warmup hike/bushwhack to Briefcase Falls, Case Falls, and the Lower Waterfall on the Hungry River.

For our main hike of the day, our plan was to venture down to the Green River Narrows.  The annual Kayak race would be the following day, so we were hoping to witness some practice runs while avoiding the race day crowds!

Note:  The Green River Gamelands is an active hunting area.  As the sign says, "Be Safe  Be Seen".  My bright orange hat, and the Professor's Tie Dye T-Shirt definitely fit the bill!  We did encounter at least one hunter (Bow Hunter looking for Deer) during our hike.

We started out on the Bishop Branch Trail to Emily Falls

Then on to the Pulliam Creek Trail.  We did a little off trail scramble to check out some nice cascades and waterfalls on Pulliam Creek!

The side-trail down to the Green River is a steep descent of 666 feet (according to Kevin Adams) over about a quarter mile.   It passes by the final waterfall on Pulliam Creek, located just before it's confluence with the Green River.  Normally this one is quite scenic, but the lighting was horrible during our visit!

We reached the Green River without any issues and spent a little time hanging out and exploring upstream just a bit.

This was probably the scariest part of the hike!

It was a great day to be outside!
