L to R: Me, Buck, Scott, Lauren
I had a very fun, but very wet day around the Shining Rock Wilderness area with the Professor and a few of his teacher friends!
I started out with a Solo hike around the Black Balsam Knob / Tennent Mountain area which took care of my first change of dry clothes before even getting started on the primary hike of the day!

For the main hike ran a shuttle starting from the Devils Courthouse parking area and ending where Flat Laurel Creek joins the West Fork of the Pigeon River.
The day went nothing like we had planned with the 30% rain forecast turning into 100% rain 100% of the time we were out there!
The views were all fogged in and my camera/cell phone stayed in a dry bag for most of the day.
However there sure was a lot of laughter which makes for a perfect day despite less than perfect conditions!

I really enjoyed meeting Lauren for the first time and being part of her first bushwhacking experience!
