Day 1 - Saturday, July 7th, 2018
Point Defiance, Port Ludlow, Indian Island, Fort Flagler, Port Townsend,
Fort Worden, and the Point Wilson Lighthouse

When Amy found out she had a business trip to Anacortes, Washington, I jumped at the chance to join her! We decided to add a couple of days to the front end of the trip so it would not be all work for Amy.
Due to thunderstorms in Charlotte, our flight was delayed by about 3 hours. We arrived in Seattle close to midnight. Fortunately our first night accommodations were only about 5 minutes from the airport.
I knew I would have a full week of hiking while Amy worked, so I planned a route which would include a lot of destinations Amy would enjoy for the first two days.

Our first stop (not including breakfast at the Poodle Dog), was to check out the Rose Gardens at Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, Washington.

Next on the agenda was Indian Island Park!

We continued on to Fort Flagler State Park! At one time Fort Flagler was a significant coastal defense fort established more than a century ago to guard the entrance to Puget Sound. Now it is a Washington State Park open for the public to explore!

Amy likes to watch a lot of HGTV and is fascinated with Tiny Houses. So we found a Tiny House near Port Townsend on Airbnb and booked a night there.

After checking into our Tiny House, we continued on into Port Townsend for an early dinner and a little exploring.

We continued on to Fort Worden State Park to check out the Point Wilson Lighthouse.

Lots of Seagulls on the Roof!
I also decided to do a little hike up Artillery Hill to check out some of the viewpoints along the Bluff Trail.

We finished up the day at a couple of Port Townsend Breweries. The Propolis Brewery was top notch, especially if you like Farmhouse Ales! Sitting outside in July with a slight chill in the air was and absolutely delightful was to end the day!
